The state of Georgia needs to consider making alcohol illegal. It is a very good idea for the state Of Georgia to this. It will be a progress for our community. A lot of stupid accidents are made because of someone who chooses to drink. Alcohol is 70% responsible of the deaths that occur on accidents. Innocent people die everyday because of someone who decided to drink and drive. It’s really not the persons fault because when you drink something just triggers your mind and it makes you think that you have some kind of control over it but you really don’t. Drinking should be illegal in the state of Georgia.
A lot of accidents happen when people are drinking. I’ve heard of girls getting raped because of being drunk. Car accidents normally occur when drinking. That’s because when someone is drinking or drunk they think that you’re able to do things that you can normally do when you’re not intoxicated. What I am trying to say is that if you get drunk you are most likely to do things that you would never do when you’re sober. You cannot stay focused even though you think you are.
I’m usually around drunk people at least three days out of a week and I can tell when someone is drunk. I would never even put a liquor bottle up to my lips I, haven’t even tasted liquor before, and don’t plan on it. Seeing the way that they act makes me not even want to try it because when im around somebody who has been drinking they act different. Most of the time drunk people get meaner and tries to pick fights for no reason. That’s why I don’t try to drink because I don’t need to get angry for no reason. It also causes problems for someone when they get sober because they say things to people that hurts them and when you wake up the next morning you don’t remember everything and think that everything is fine. That I know from experience because I go through much.
I’ve asked people why they drink, and nine out of ten of them said because of stress and pressure. Some people said because it makes them feel good. Some of them also said because it makes them happy. None of these are good reasons. To me there just a bunch of sorry excuses. After a person get sober again the problem is still going to be there and it will probably make it worse by getting drunk and ignoring it. It doesn’t make you forget things it just makes you lost your memory so you won’t think about it.
I know a woman that has kids that have been taken from her because of her drinking problem and I asked her would she consider giving up her drinking to be with her kids. She said no, and that she would rather have liquor than to be with her children or have a roof over her head. She said she would rather be homeless if that’s what it takes to have her liquor. It really did hurt me to my heart when she said that because how can you not love someone who you gave birth to. I wouldn’t choose anything or anyone over my child. I also will do anything that I could possibly do to make my child’s life better. Two of her older children asked her why don’t she love them and she said I love liquor more than anything because it’s the joy of my life and it makes me happy.
Young adults do not realize what kind of damage can happen to them and innocent people while drinking and driving. Most people that have had a couple of drinks think that they can control driving the correct way but it’s a mind thing. Even if you think you are not drunk you really are, and even if you’re careful or not the results can still be dramatic. Think about it even if someone hits you from behind, if you have been drinking then you will end up paying the other person money, get in trouble with the law, and the damage that is done to our car will not be covered by insurance or the other driver.

Realism

I think that “The story of an Hour” is example realism because unlike all of the other people that we read about like Transcendentalism or the Romanticism they don’t pretend or use their imagination. Everything that happens to them is real and they don’t try to make it look good by adding their imagination and try to tell their self that I still have a shot at something.
“She was young, with a fair, calm face, whose lines bespoke repression and even certain strength. But now there was a dull stare in her eyes, whose gaze was fixed away off yonder on one of those patches of blue sky.” “She sat with her head thrown back upon the cushion of the chair, quite motionless, except when a sob came up into her throat and shook her, as a child who has cried itself to sleep continues to sob in its dreams.” This paragraph specifically explains her actions. It also explain how she feels about her husbands death, it shows that she was at first sad about it. After really looking at the situation she was happy about her husband’s death. "Free! Body and soul free!" she kept whispering. This meant that she was free and that she could say and do anything she wants.
I think that the author is trying to prove that women don’t want to be owned or live for other people. The author is trying to say that some women aren’t happy just because they are married. I guess she said that because back then men had all of the power and control over women. “When the doctors came they said she had died of heart disease-- of joy that kills.” That means that she didn’t die because of her heart condition. She died because she thought that the rest of her life was going to change for the better now that she thought he was dead. Now that she knows that he’s alive she wanted her life to be about her but now that he’s alive there is no hope of her being happy and living her life how she want to.
“The Battle with Mr. Covey” was a good story. I think that the author is trying to say that everyone wants to be free and live their own lives. I also think that the author is trying to say that everyone will put up with something that they know is not right for a while, but when a person gets tired and cant take anymore something has to be done about it. This story was a realism story because the man that was a slave did not use his imagination to try to make his situation better because in this situation imagination will not help. I say imagination won’t help because no matter how hard you imagined some, you still will fill the pain inside.
“About three o'clock of that day, I broke down; my strength failed me; I was seized with a violent aching of the head, attended with extreme dizziness; I trembled in every limb....” This is an example of how he felt that moment, that he couldn’t do anymore. I guess his body was just tired of being worked every day for long hours without eating. This describes realism because when Mr. Covey hit him in his head with a board, he described some disturbing details about how it felt to him.
I think that the author was trying to show that slavery was a really big problem for slaves in the 1840’s and 1850’s. That is realism because he wanted to persuade someone to do something about slavery. He wanted someone to change the slavery situation because he felt that it was not fair to be owner your whole life. He thought that if he described all of the horrible details of slavery then it would make someone try to put their self in his shoes.
My own example of realism would be that movie “Don’t Be a Menace…” I say that because that movie was trying to persuade someone that L.A. was not a good place to live and that it was really disturbing. It was gun shooting their every day and you couldn’t even really let your children go outside without someone trying to give them drugs, alcohol, or getting shot. The producer wanted to show everyone that it was not a joke staying where they stay. It is nothing good about losing people you know and love everyday.
