Writing Two

Chad Butler A.K.A Pimp C was born in a small town in Port Arthur, Texas on December 29 of 1973. Where he grew up in Texas was a quiet town but has now turned into a really bad drug place according to the people that has lived there since birth and has seen Houston at its best. It was very hard for Pimp C growing up to stay out of the streets and out of the trap but his best thing to do to keep him out of it was his favorite thing to do and that to rap. His first group he formed in high school was called "Mission Impossible". The group included a close friend of his for years named Mitchell Queen.

Around the same time that he started his rap group, across town Bernard Freeman A.K.A Bun-B and Jalon Jackson started a group also. They soon found out about each other and joined together to form a group called 4 Black Ministers. A while later just Pimp C and Bun-B realized that they were the only one’s in the group that was serious about rapping so they formed a group by their selves called Underground Kings. Their first single was called "Tell Me Something Good" which was originally made by Rufus and Chaka Khan made it to a record shop in Huston called Houston Home Jams. They enrolled in a contest then and were later disqualified when their label began to bootleg their songs out on the streets.

Bernard Freeman his partner A.K.A. Bun-B was born on March 19, of 1973. He was also born in Houston Texas and grew up there. He started free styling at the age of 15. They became best friend at the age of 17 and became partners also. Before he started rapping his mother quoted that he was always into trouble situations that he had no business in and that it was not really who he is.

Soon after that the group signed on to Jive Records. Jive Records is one of the hottest rap labels in the world and was owned by a man named Clive Calder. It was not a lot of rap groups that made it "big" in the south because people really didn’t understand the south. At the age of 22 Pimp C’s career was just really getting started. He is now one of the most hottest rappers in the music industry and a leader in the group of UGK. Him and Bun-B were the leaders because they had put in a lot of work to get to the top and they are serious about their home town and trying to put Houston on the map. He has worked and produces records for Three 6 Mafia, Devin the Dude, Jay-z, C-Murder, David Banner and many more music artist. They sold 1 million records since 1992 on every one of their albums. They have recorded 20 albums. Pimp C and Bun-B has really put Houston, Texas/ the south on the map.

He went to prison at the age of 28 because of Community Service that he didn’t do for the crime that he committed, aggravated assault. He was charged with that because he pulled out a gun while arguing with a woman at the mall. He was sentenced eight years in prison but only had to do four. He was released on December 30, 2005 and going to be on parole until December 2009. While he was in jail his partner Bun-B started a phrase "Free Pimp C" that was carried on for three years. Many rappers have worn the phrase on t-shirts to concerts on TV shows, and in music videos.

He has been listed as an influence on the hottest new rappers in the music industry such as Lil Wayne, Lil Flip, David Banner, and 3-6 Mafia. He is known to speak his mind about other rappers. To be a man in the 30’s he still have it and is really hot in the music business today. He quotes " I may be getting older but my mind and lyrics are getting wiser."

The Rationalists

There is a big difference in the Puritans and the Rationalists. They both believed in god but the Puritans were a lot serious about their beliefs. The Puritans believed that they were supposed to live like god did. The Rationalists believed that god put humans here to find a way to live. The Rationalist put their faith in science, they thought that they could live using science. The Puritans though that god didn’t want human beings to make their own rules and live the way they wanted to. They believed that humans should not try to change the way the world was and that they should not interfere with gods work that he has done on earth.

Benjamin Franklin is Rationalist because he believed that all men were created equally unlike the Puritans who thought that god picks certain people to bless. He is Rationalist because he always wanted to discover new things and create new things. Benjamin Franklin always wanted an explanation for every thing. He used science to help him find reasons why things were meant to be. He lived life like a normal person would, he’s not so uptight and doesn’t think that people will go to hell for doing small things like having a drink every once in a while, the Puritans would have called that a sin.

"I was born and bred, to a state of affluence and some degree of reputation in the world, and having gone so far through life with a considerable share of felicity, the conducing means I made use of, which with the blessing of God so well succeeded, my posterity may like to know, as they may find some of them suitable to their own situations, and therefore fit to be imitated." That is a reason why he is Rationalists because he thinks that god gave men intelligence and wants us to figure out things that are in the world.

"And now I speak of thanking God, I desire with all humility to acknowledge that I owe the mentioned happiness of my past life to His kind providence, which lead me to the means I used and gave them success. My belief of this induces me to hope, though I must not presume, that the same goodness will still be exercised toward me, in continuing that happiness, or enabling me to bear a fatal reverse, which I may experience as others have done: the complexion of my future fortune being known to Him only in whose power it is to bless to us even our afflictions." This paragraph also explains why he was a Rationalists because he believe in god but he though that god wanted humans to have happiness and that god don't expect everyone to be exacally like him but to following his footsteps. "A question was once, somehow or other, started between Collins and me, of the propriety of educating the female sex in learning, and their abilities for study. He was of opinion that it was improper, and that they were naturally unequal to it. I took the contrary side, perhaps a little for dispute's sake." In those sentences he is saying that everyone is equal and have that same ability and rights, no matter if your a woman, young, different religion or different race everyone is able to do anything.

He is also Rationalist because he knows that god gives second chances. What I mean by that is for an example he made a list of 13 ways to improve his life. He did not try to be perfect and do everything that god did. Even though he didn’t live exactly like god he tried to make his life a lot better than it was and he knew that he wasn’t perfect. Most of the founding fathers believed that god gave humans the power to create new things and also to discover. So you can say that most of the founding fathers are Rationalist.

Ligeancy- faithful service, too protect and secure justice.

Honesty- whatever I do or say will be the truth no matter how important it is supposed to be kept a secret.

Responsibility- whatever choices I make in life good or bad, I will be willing to face the consequences without blaming anyone else.

Unique- to speak my mind, to be myself no matter if no one likes me, to have my own style and my own beliefs.

Peaceful- to try to make peace in the world and never cause a lot of disruptions.
Valiant- To be brave, to do things bravely.

Confessant- willing to talk to someone about my problems so I can get advice or help, not feel closed in about feelings and what’s going on in my life.

Understanding- try to see things from other peoples point of view, not to be selfish.
Reliable- people will be able to believe me and trust me to do things that I say that I’m going to do.
Reasonable- to have a reason to do the things I do, not to do things will effect others.

Compassionate- to have feeling for and understand the struggles that someone else has.

Selflessness- To think about the things I do before I do it and if it is helping people or hurting them.

Communicative- To communicate with others to see how they feel about things and if they think the same way I do about different situations.

By having those thirteen things I think that I could reach moral perfection. I say that because if I had those things then I would be a great person and I would have no reason to do things that I will regret. No one would then have any reason to dislike me and I would be a lot closer to god. I think that I would be closer to god because I think that that is how he expects humans to be instead of thinking about just yourself and being selfish all of the time. If everyone had those thirteen things then the world would be a better place.

"We hold these truths to be self-eviednce that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that amoung these are life, kiberty and the pursuit of happiness." That was an example of a Rationalists thought because Rationalists believe that everyone is created equal and that no one has certain powers even if they believe in god or not. "But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security." That was also a Rationalists thought because they are saying that god is not responsible for the things that happen on the earth and that it is up to the to control it by natural law. "That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. "That is a Rationalists thought because they thing that god gave humans the ability to run the earth and that everyone has rights, not just certain people.

Analytical writing on Alica Keys

Born and raised in Manhattan/ New York, Alicia J. Augello-Cook A.K.A. Alicia Keys as a bi-racial female began piano lesson at the age of 7. Her mother is Irish-Italian and her father is a Jamaican. Her mother told her at a young age that “you can quit anything else but you can never quit your piano lessons”. It was not a easy road to success says Alicia, raised in New York seeing prostitutes, pimps, drug dealers and crack heads every day”. She got older she studied her piano lessons on regular basics and improved ever step of the way. By the age of 14 she wrote her first song “Butterflyz”, it was featured on one of her albums called: “Songs in A minor”.

Her style is what makes her different from other singers because her music is a mix of R&B, Blues, Jazz and Hip-Hop. Her style is also a lot different because she’s not only in to the new styles but some of her songs are old school and sounds like back in the day music. She is like a mix of Aretha Franklin and Mariah Carey. She’s got the voice and notes for the young people as well as the older people.

Her music is very unique because she doesn’t talk and write about the same thing. Instead of her bragging about what she have and talking about how she look, unlike most singers she express her emotions. She lets people know that there is more to life than just wanting money and being famous. Her music inspires people to care about themselves and not to worry about what other people think or say about you. Her music is mainly for people that are in love, trying to find themselves or people who have experienced a lot of bad and unusual things in their lives.

As you can see Alicia Keys is multitalented. She writes and produces songs, plays the piano, produces records, an actor, author, and is a professional singer. She has won a lot of awards through out her nineteen years. She has won Eleven Billboard Music Awards, Nine Grammy Awards, and three American Music Awards. That’s a lot more talent than a normal R&B singer has and more awards than a regular star has had within just five years. With just a few Albums made Alicia is one of the top R&B singers in the world.

Her first Album “Songs in A Minor” sold over 235,000 copies in its first week and more than 50,000 in its first day. It was released on June 5, 2001 and it sold more than eleven million units worldwide. She then became the best selling artist of 2001. Her first single “fallin” spent six weeks at number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. In 2002 she won five Grammy Awards, “Song of the Year”, and “Best New Artist” for “Fallin”.

Her next album “The Diary of Alicia Keys” was released on December 2, 2003. It became number one in the U.S. and it sold over 618,000 copies in its first week released. It was also the second highest R&B album sales by a female. “You Don’t Know My Name”, and “If I Ain’t Got You” both reached the top five of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Also her song “If I Ain’t Got You” became the first single by a female artist to remain on the sixty-three year old Billboard R&B/ Hip-Hop Songs for more than one year. She also won “Best R&B Video” for the same song “If I Ain’t Got You”.

On October 11, 2005 she released her album called “Unplugged”. Performed “Every Little Bit Hurts” at the 2005 Grammy Awards, which was also performed by singers Aretha Franklin and Brenda Holloway. “Unbreakable” peaked at number four and number thirty-four on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and the Hot 100. Her latest album comes out this year,( November 6, 2007). It has featured artist on it such as Linda Perry, John Legend, Timberland, and Marsha Ambrosius.

Alicia says that she wants her music to be inspirational to all types of people and that she makes music in difference styles because she wants everyone to listen to it. She also have said that she want to please her fans because without them she would be a normal person.

Puritans Project

1. The Puritans believed that god didn’t die for everyone to be here just for a few people. They said that god chose certain people that he wanted to go to heaven. They strongly believed that Adam and Eve were responsible for hell and that every sinner will go to hell because of it. They also thought that sinners could not repent and would automatically go to hell if they did anything that god would not want them to do.

The Puritans said if you have sinned there is no way that god will help you and that you could not have his faith .They thought that if you help each other through things and stick together during hard times that you will go to heaven. They also believe that almost everyone is sinner and most of the world would go to hell. They thought that almost everyone worshiped the devil if they didn’t live the way that they did.

2. My response to the Puritans is that most of the Puritans belief’s I disagree with. I would not live the way that they do or believe in most of the things that they think is true. They believe that if you commit one sin that you will automatically go to hell. I think that is a very stupid belief because I was raised believing that everyone sins but it’s your responsibility to repent and that god will forgive you if you believe in him and start living the way that he would. Besides how can you learn right from wrong if you never do anything wrong. Everyone makes mistakes, no one is perfect no matter how hard you try, you just have to try your best to follow god’s path and believe in him.

Another thing that I disagree with is that they think as soon as you sin you die instantly or that your life will be shorter if you ever sin. I think that is not true because everyone has their time to die, no one stays here for eternity no matter how good you have been. Anyone can die anytime because only god makes those decisions on who should live or die. I was told that you are not supposed to judge people, just because they live differently or have different beliefs from yours don’t mean that they are wrong. Everyone is different and has different beliefs and we have to accept people for who they are, just because they are different doesn’t mean that they are going to hell if they make a bad decision once.

I do think that some of their ways of living is ok because it’s good not to be a sinner and learn about god. Some of the things they believe are ok but they go a little to far about hell and thinking every one is going there. I also don’t believe that god died for certain people, god died for everyone because we are his children and that’s why I think that god forgives us and gives us chances. If sinners didn’t have another chance and died right away then the world would be very small with fewer amounts of people here.

If it was true that only people who sin die earlier then innocent little kids and babies wouldn’t be dead now because of shoot-outs. Innocent people who have done nothing die everyday over stupid accidents but no one can control it. Like I said it’s a time for everyone to go, whether you did anything to die or not. Everybody deserves second chances. You have probably made mistakes in your life and so have I but I believe in god and I have asked for forgiveness and I know that god still love me and will forgive me.

3. Unconditional Election- God “saves” those he wishes- only a few are selected for salvation. When they said that they were meant that god doesn’t forgive everyone just a few people. Limited Atonement - Jesus died for the chosen only, not for everyone. Irresistible Grace - God's grace is freely given, it cannot be earned or denied. Grace is defined as the saving and transfiguring power of God. That’s saying that god didn’t die for all of us to be here but just for a few people
